Factors you need to be aware of that when buying shoes
Quality and price
There are shoes in different prices, but remember that often quality and price are related. We recommend that you find a badminton shoe which you think is comfortable to wear – If the shoe is not comfortable, your experience with the game will often be negative
Shoe size
When looking at the size of the shoes from the Asian brands, be aware of what size you are ordering. The shoes can be a bit small, and we recommend going half to a whole size up in the shoes compared to normal everyday shoes.
Foot withd
When researching the market and looking for the shoes you want, consider how wide your foot is. If you have a wide foot, you can therefore exclude the narrow models. It is seen that women’s shoes are a bit more narrow, as women usually have a more narrow foot than men.
Support in the shoe
The type of shoes you want to play with differs from person to person. Some want a lighter shoe whereas others want a shoe that is more supportive and has good shock absorption.
Support in a badminton shoe is incredibly important, as one’s feet and ankles are exposed to constant pressure because the many changes of direction that one performs during badminton. If you workout a lot, it is important to have a shoe that supports and helps you on the court. I recommend buying two pairs of the same shoes and then switching between the two pairs. This is done to allow the cushioning in the shoe to recover. As a general rule, there should be 48 hours between using your badminton shoes before the cushioning provides optimal support again!
If you are a beginner or exerciser, and you don’t need a shoes with that much support, as the changes of direction may not be as explosive as with experienced badminton players.
The heel cap
To get the best possible experience with your new badminton shoe, it is important with support in the heel. In badminton, you are exposed to many changes of direction, and every time you make a change of direction, you strain your joints in the foot.
In badminton, you are exposed to many extreme positions and therefore it is often required that you have a shoe that helps the foot to be held in place in both in the set off and the landing.
If your ligaments around the ankle are weak and easy to twist around, it is important to have a supportive heel cap which provides as much support as possible.
The outsole
The outsole of your new badminton shoes prevents you from slipping on court.
Of course, it is not optimal with an outsole that makes you stick to the floor. Therefore, it is important the shoe has an outsole that is flexible but at the same time not too hard, which can help you do the perfect leg work without slipping and losing your footing.
Shock absorption
Over the years, good shock absorption is the alpha omega for many badminton players. If the shoe has a good shock absorption, you will get a softer feeling when you land.
The shock absorption helps with a better feeling in the body and prevents unnecessary shocks in your joints.
If you choose a shoe with extra good shock absorption, the shoe will usually feel a bit heavier than shoes without as much shock absorption.
If you suffer from injury problems in your knees and back, we recommend you go for a shoe with extra shock absorption. Wave is a technology used in the insole, which helps to optimize the shock absorption and stability in the shoe.
