Go get the victory with the right string!
Why do we recommend getting your new string in your racket and can you really feel the difference? Read more and get an insight into the wonderful world of strings.
Improve your skills with a proper string!
When buying a new racket, we always recommend that you buy a new string. Some rackets are sold without strings, while others come with a factory string, and since 50% of the efficiency depend on a good string, it’s worth the money to get a new string from the beginning.
Now you are probably thinking: What should I choose and what should I think about? Let me see if I can simplify it a bit!
The range of strings
At the Badminton-Shop, we sell two of the world’s leading string brands; Yonex and Ashaway. For many players, Yonex does not need further introduction, a Japanese brand that is synonymous with badminton. Then there is Ashaway – an American brand, which is actually the largest string brand worldwide.
Bestseller
Each of the two brands has several different choices when it comes to string types, but should I mention one bestseller from both brands, it will be Ashaways Zymax 68 and the Yonex BG80.
Ashaway’s Zymax 68 TX will provide you with a lot of control and sublime power. This is due to the rough and stiff string which maintains the tension for a long time.
Yonex BG80 is the best-selling string from Yonex through the ages and is both strong and durable. At the same time BG80 provides you with a good touch and lots of power. Both models are available in several colors, so you can make your personality shine!
Stringning tension
Another and equally important element is the tension of the string. As an exerciser or youth player, you should not string your racket with a to high tension. We recommend atension of approx. 10 kg. This softer/lower tension will provide more flexibility and power to your blows, due to the “trampoline effect” as the sweetspot is larger.
If you are an experienced player or tournament player, we recommend a higher tension of approx. 12 kg. This will give you more control and feeling as the shuttlecock has shorter contact time with the strings. A harder stringing requires a high level and you need to make “clean” shots every time, otherwise the string will burst.
If you want to read more about the tension of your strings, read my Badminton racket guide.
The stringing itself
When buying a new racket, you get an optional string for 15,- EUR.
The actual stringing takes place on professional machines according to the regulations from Yonex. We string approx. 12,000 rackets annually. With our many years of experience, you are guaranteed high quality, every time!
