Which racket should I choose?
Tai Tzu Ying, born and raised in Taiwan, first picked up a badminton racket in the fourth grade. This was heavily influenced by her father, who was the chairman of the Kaohsiung Badminton Committee. Just two years later, she participated in the national tournament, where she won the second division title. This led her into the first division, becoming the youngest player in the first division. From there, her badminton career took off.
In 2007, she made her international debut at the 2007 Vietnam International. Two years later, she won silver at the Asian Junior Championship. In 2010, she made her Super Series debut at the Korea Open. The same year, she reached her first Super Series final at the 2010 Singapore Open.
In 2011, she won her first BWF Grand Prix title at the U.S. Open. The same year, she also reached the semifinals at both the Canadian Open, Vietnam Open, and French Open. The following year, she represented Taiwan at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The same year, she won her first Super Series title at the Japan Open.
In 2014, Tai represented Taiwan at the 2014 Asian Games, where she won Taiwan's first badminton medal. The same year, she won both the Hong Kong Open and the Super Series Finals in Dubai.
Two years later, in 2016, she won the Indonesia Open, Hong Kong Open, and the Super Series Finals in Dubai. This resulted in her moving up to the top of the world rankings in December 2016.
In 2017, she won her first All England Open title. The same year, she also won the Malaysia Open, Singapore Open, and Asian Championships. The following year, she won the 2018 Asian Games and the 2018 Denmark Open.
In 2019, she won both the Malaysia Open, Singapore Open, and Denmark Open. The following year, she won the All England Open. In January 2021, she won the BWF World Tour Finals and was named the BWF Female Player of the Year 2020-2021. Later that year, she represented Taiwan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she won a silver medal.
